About
Audi shook the rallying world in 1981 with the debut of its full-time 4-wheel-drive system in the World Rally Championship. This particular variant, a modified version of the Sport quattro S1, was tailored specifically for hill climb competitions, equipped with radical ground effects that pushed the limits of aerodynamics. In 1987, Walter Röhrl piloted this machine to a record-breaking triumph at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
