About
This mid-engine sports car made its debut in 1972 as the sister to the Bora. While the Bora was equipped with a V-8, the Merak utilized a smaller 3.0-liter V-6 sourced from the Citroën SM, allowing a 2+2 seating layout by making use of the extra space freed up in the rear. The SS was a high-performance variant introduced in 1975. By increasing the engine’s compression ratio, output was boosted, raising the top speed from 139.8 mph to 155.3 mph.
