About
The Chevelle was introduced in 1964 as Chevrolet’s first intermediate-size model. The Chevelle also offered the "SS" performance trim, which reached its peak with the introduction of the 1970 model. That year saw the debut of the SS 454, powered by the LS6 engine, the most powerful production engine listed in any American car catalog at the time. It's no wonder that the SS 454 quickly became one of the most formidable and dependable contenders on the drag racing circuit.
