Fanatec's Gran Turismo DD Pro is currently the only way to use a direct drive wheel on the PlayStation platform without spending an eye-watering $1,799.95 on the Podium F1.

For gamers who were already invested in the Fanatec ecosystem, the wheel and pedals included with the DD Pro bundle were most likely an unwanted addition – but today Fanatec has opened up pre-orders for a $599.95 standalone DD Pro wheel base ahead of an expected May 27 release.

The standalone wheel base includes the Boost Kit 180, which allows the wheel base to use its full 8 Nm of torque, and was previously only available as a $149.95 add-on.
