In June 2016, a Subaru WRX STI set a new record for 4-wheeled vehicles during a time attack on the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy course. While Subaru had been competing in the event since 2011, the 2016 machine was specially prepared by Britain’s Prodrive, a team renowned for its multiple World Rally Championship titles. Thanks to their expertise, the record was lowered by nearly two minutes, with a final time of 17:35.139 and an average speed of 128.6 mph.
