About
The FD3S, the third generation of the RX-7, was introduced in December 1991. Its widened body accommodated broader tires for improved grip, while extensive use of aluminum components throughout the chassis brought the weight down to just under 2646 lbs. Although it retained the 13B engine from the FC3S, the FD3S introduced a sequential twin-turbo system, boosting output to 251.5 HP and 217.0 ft-lb of torque. The lightest variant, the Type S, achieved a power-to-weight ratio of 4.97 kg/HP, making it the most potent RX-7 ever produced.
