In 1965, this legendary machine delivered Honda its first-ever F1 victory. Building upon the foundation of the RA271—Honda’s first F1 challenger—this car achieved greater performance through weight reduction across its components, the adoption of outboard rear suspension, and refined tuning of its 1.5-liter V-12. Although early in the season it grappled with stability issues, significant improvements were introduced midway through the campaign. These efforts culminated in a hard-fought and celebrated triumph at Round 10, the Mexican Grand Prix.
