Although derived from the "Le Mans quattro" concept, the production version of this sports car took its name from Audi’s R8 race cars, which had earned a solid reputation with dominant performances at Le Mans. Built around Audi’s ultra-lightweight aluminum space frame, the car featured a 4.2-liter V-8 producing 414.2 HP, delivering power to all four wheels via the quattro system, which employed viscous couplings. In 2009, the lineup was expanded with the addition of the 5.2 FSI model, powered by a 5.2-liter V-10 generating 517.7 HP.
