About
This prototype race car was developed by Audi. While it shared lineage with the diesel-powered R10 and R15, the R18 was Audi’s first closed-cockpit design since the R8C of 1999. Its engine produced a modest 532.5 HP—less than its recent predecessors—but compensated with aggressive weight reduction and the aerodynamic efficiency afforded by its enclosed bodywork. In 2011, the R18 claimed overall victory at Le Mans.
