FTO GP Version R '97

The FTO made its debut in 1994, marking a return 23 years after the release of the original model. Its body adopted mid-size proportions suited to the Japanese market—uncommon for its time—and stood out for its generous width and athletic stance. Three engine options were offered: the 4G93, a 1.8-liter inline-4 SOHC; the 6A12, a 2.0-liter DOHC V-6 , and a higher-tuned version of the same V-6, producing 197.2 HP. The GP Version R was a high-performance variant, featuring sport-tuned suspension, a limited-slip differential, and front and rear strut tower bars as standard equipment.
