The new regulations for 2014 required the GT500 car to share the same monocoque weight and key components with its DTM counterpart. As a result, the GT-R underwent significant revisions to meet GT500 specifications, with ongoing refinements continuing through to the 2016 model. During the 2014 and 2015 seasons, the MOTUL AUTECH GT-R secured back-to-back series championships. Aiming for a third consecutive title in 2016, the team ultimately concluded the season in third place overall.
