In spring 2014, Nissan announced its return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a car bearing the GT-R nameplate. The GT-R LM NISMO broke convention with its radical front-engine/front-wheel-drive layout. Its carbon-fiber body, designed by Ben Bowlby—the mind behind the DeltaWing and ZEOD RC—housed a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 paired with an energy recovery system. Weighing in at the minimum 1940 lbs, it contended for overall victory on motorsports' most demanding stage.
