About
First unveiled as the Kopen at the 1999 Tokyo Motor Show, this model entered production in 2002 as the Daihatsu Copen, becoming the company’s first fully convertible kei-class car. With a rigid yet lightweight body and a specially tuned suspension, the Copen delivered sharp and responsive handling. It also drew significant attention for being the first kei-car in the world to feature a power-operated retractable hardtop. Its unique charm led to exports to markets such as the UK and Australia.
