About
First introduced in 1972, the Civic is Honda’s longest-running model. In 1997, the first Civic Type R made its debut, based on the sixth-generation Civic. At its heart was the B16B—a 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated inline-4 DOHC engine that delivered an impressive 182.4 HP. True to the Type R philosophy, the car featured extensive weight reduction and upgraded suspension components. The result was a car that found success across the spectrum of motorsport, from professional racing series to grassroots competition.
