About
In 1989, Porsche introduced the third-generation 911, known internally as the Type 964. Although it retained the familiar shape of its predecessor, it was a major leap forward, with about 80 percent of its components being newly developed. The Carrera 4, featuring 4-wheel drive, debuted first, followed by the rear-wheel-drive Carrera 2 in 1990. The Carrera RS of this generation was a performance-tuned variant based on the Carrera 2.
