About
In 1968, BMW introduced the 2800 CS sports coupe, powered by a robust 2.8-liter inline-6 engine. By 1971, the 3.0 CS arrived, an updated version with a larger engine. To compete in motorsport, BMW created a lightweight homologation model based on the 3.0 CS, naming it the 3.0 CSL. The "L" in CSL stood for “light,” reflecting the car’s reduced weight for racing.
