Sprinter Trueno 1600GT APEX (AE86) '83

The tossable nature of this original hatchback 86 more than compensated for its lack of structural rigidity.

About
In 1983, the Corolla and Sprinter lines largely transitioned to a front-wheel-drive layout, with the sole exception being the rear-wheel-drive AE86 variant—the Corolla Levin and Sprinter Trueno—affectionately known as the "Hachi-Roku." It was offered as a 3-door hatchback and a 2-door notchback coupe. Power came from a newly developed 1.6-liter DOHC 4A-GEU inline-4. While several rivals featured similar specifications, the Hachi-Roku continued to win over driving enthusiasts with its playful, rewarding handling.
